There's a new jam in town! For several years, Terry Roush has hosted an monthly old-time music jam in his home. FOOTMAD is working to continue that tradition and expand upon it.
The ideas for this jam are developing and evolving. Some of these ideas include: having a host person or group to lead the jam; featuring different styles such as old-time, celtic, etc; and more; having slow jams for beginners; and more. The location for the first few jams will be the Alban Arts Center in St Albans. We will try to offer the jams at different locations in the Kanawah Valley. If there is interest, we may be able to offer more than one jam a month.

If you want to help create this jam series or want more information about it, call 304.415.3668 [leave a message, we will return your call] or e-mail kvfootmad@yahoo.com. Up-to-the-minute info about the jams will be available at http://www.FOOTMAD.org/

ACC Appears On Internet TV - September 9, 2006

While hanging out at a book signing the other day, we were overheard talking about the Consort. Rudy Panucci was behind me, and said "Irish music? How about coming on the show?" After figuring out that "Radio Free Charleston" was actually an Internet TV show (there used to be a Radio Show... see their web site for the rest of the story) we said "Definitely! Sounds like fun!"
A week later we were in their studio taping for Episode 5. The show turned out great -- wacky and eclectic, as only Rudy and the gang could make it. We did three pieces off the 2nd and 3rd CDs -- this episode has the Johnny Jump Up medley. The rest will be featured on the Halloween show. Check it out -- you can get there by going to the Links page or just click here: http://webad.cnpapers.com/rfc005/

We have filled out paperwork until we are blue in the face, but finally the new CD is available online. Use this link:

The New CD is Done! - June 6, 2006

"Come by the Hills", our third CD, is finally done. It should be appearing online shortly, and we will have a link on our site (click the "Buy" menu item). If course, you can always e-mail us and we will send you a copy and an invoice.

Back to the USA - May 17, 2006

Sorry, no daily updates. Turned out that internet access was a problem. But
Pat made it back to the US in one piece, although the driving was a bit dicey at times. Roads are just too narrow for a cement truck and anything going in the other direction.

However, we did have some fun. The Dublin pub scene was great -- Temple Bar (an area of the city, not a bar in the pub sense of the word) reminded me of the French Quarter in New Orleans before Katrina. Lots of people, music and energy.

We actually got to drive the "Road to Lisdoonvarna" -- a very winding narrow mountain road with some spectacular views. Lisdoonvarna itself was a nice little town -- would be a real gas when the matchmaking festival was in full swing!

Anyway, its back to Charleston and earning a living.

Pat made it to Ireland! - April 28, 2006

First step on the Ould Sod Friday at 7 am. The hotel here was nice enough to let us check in a rest (Could ye help out a poor homeless couple...)

Food is good so far -- although I have to ask before I eat. Apparently the stuff I had for breakfast yesterday was something called "blood pudding". They were just, kidding, right?

Off today to see the Cliffs of Moer and mosey on towards Knocktopher Abbey, where we will have our home base.

Later,

Pat
